Welcome to my Showcase!
Here you will find a few examples of the work I have completed in my Masters Courses. As you may read in my essays, I have a passion for helping the students that struggle in school. Over the course of my Masters Program, I have learned and applied so many of the techniques that I think are useful to helping this particular group of students. I strongly believe that students, teachers, and parents must work together to ensure that students are successful in their academic career. Therefore, I have included work samples that I have created for student, parents, as well as teachers. In order to view the work examples, click on the link above the blurb or on the image next to it.

Whenever I create anything for a parent, I always think about what I would want to learn as a parent. Usually, the parents that are interested in finding ways to help their children, not teacher jargon. So, it is very important that facts and strategies are presented in a way that will be useful and direct. This packet was created with this in mind. I designed it based upon the PowerPoint below. I wanted parents to take home the important information of how they could help their child with math, reading, and writing strategies. I also included tips of what to do and things to avoid.

Parents of Struggling Readers Powerpoint
This PowerPoint is the accompaniment to The Parents Packet above. To create this presentation, I looked at my resources and web resources to have a better understanding of useful tips that parents could use at home. I have actually presented this information at a parent meeting we held at our school. As an audience, they were very receptive to the strategies and tips presented.

Student Intervention Proposal
Student Intervention Proposal Powerpoint
Imagine having an unlimited budget at your disposal. Well, for this assignment we could. Using the Response to Intervention strategies, I was able to try matching useful technology to help students in the classroom. This was another opportunity to make an administrative presentation of ideas that I thought would benefit students and the school.

Student Case Study
Case Study
This case study was done with a student that worked very hard but was struggling to meet the expectations of his grade level. I designed a short, yet intensive unit that would help him distinguish between long and short OW sounds. Included in this case study are lesson plans, assessments, resources, and the procedure that we used to aid the student.

Motivating Students to Read
Motivating Students to Read
Teachers and parents know how hard it is to get students excited about reading. Here is a PowerPoint I created to help get students motivated. They key to this is discovering what interest the student has, then finding reading materials that fit those interest. I have included questionnaires, examples, and suggestions that can help the process more streamlined.

Professional Development Plan
Professional Development Plan
Creating a Professional Development Plan may not be in the plan for every teacher; however I know that it is a manageable task. Eventually, I would like to shift my career into some sort of leadership role. This assignment gave me an interesting platform to create and share professional development that I think would be useful and effective.
